Weekend Getaway: Colorado Distilleries

I love discovering distilleries in every city I travel to. Below are some must see spots to grab a cocktail!

Denver

Deviation Distilling

Deviation is located in the Dairy block in Denver. Deviation focuses on gin and Barista inspired whiskey. My favorite cocktail was their house specialties; The FLIP! I enjoyed both flavors; blood orange and pomegranate. The flip is a frothy gin based drink with egg white! We also enjoyed the Colorado campfire and fig old fashioned. The staff was fabulous. I wish we had more time to explore the menu and enjoy the ambiance but we were headed to Lane 8 at Red Rocks!

Stranahans Colorado Whiskey

If you want sun, cute patio and fabulous drinks, head to Stranahans Colorado Whiskey. Even though I’m not a huge whiskey fan, their cocktail creations have enough sweetness to balance out the whiskey forward flavors. They offer the classics with a twist along with a seasonal menu. We visited in October so everything had the flavors of fall; chai, cranberry and apple! You are able to book a distillery tour in advance and purchase bottle in house to enjoy back at home.

Fort Collins

Old Elk Bourbon

Located in the heart of Fort Collins, Old Elk has the cutest patio with heating lamps outside to keep you warm in the crisp fall air. I chose the blackberry sour since I’m not a huge bourbon fan. I love a sour with egg white and this was perfect. We also enjoyed flights of their whiskey. The “dessert” flight was fun; chocolate, salted caramel, banana and coconut whiskeys. Along with the basic whiskeys and bourbon they also have infused flavors such as blood orange and cognac finished. They serve food and offer happy hour! Also do not forget to bring a bottle or 2 home with you!!

The Coppermuse

Coppermuse is a must go! We sat outside on the patio to enjoy the sun and people watching. Located in the Exchange plaza which includes a taco shop, ice cream, taproom and many other food options. Their drink menu includes the classics and seasonal specialties. Along with my cocktails I did a flights of spirits; Lychee infused vodka, blueberry rum and blackberry and raspberry liquors. Since we visited in the fall, I had to bring home a bottle of their Vicieux black vodka for Halloween drinks!

I know Colorado has so many more spots and I can not wait to check them out. If you have any recommendations, please comment below!
